What is holistic dentistry? Before we define what, holistic dentistry is, it’s helpful to explain what it isn’t. Holistic dentistry is not a specialization that is recognized by the American Dental Association. Instead, it’s a philosophy or concept of care, that focuses on patient’s total wellness. By centering care around the oral systemic connection – the effects of oral health on overall health and vice versa – a holistic dentist provides services that go beyond filling cavities.
Holistic dentists such as at Virtue Dental Care near Hendersonville, NC provide care that focuses heavily on prevention and the use of safe dental materials. We know that everything that enters the mouth can have an impact on total health and that many systemic health conditions begin with symptoms in the mouth.
Patient education and prevention are cornerstones of our practice at Virtue Dental Care. We want our patients to feel empowered to improve their health by focusing on oral hygiene, proper nutrition, lifestyle improvements, and great dental care.
