How CEREC crowns work

In the span of just one office visit, we can prepare your tooth and place your permanent crown, so you are free to enjoy your daily activities without weeks of waiting.
- First, the tooth will be prepared by shaping it as needed to fit the crown properly.
- Then, we create digital dental impressions of the area that are sent directly to the CEREC machine in the office, rather than physical impressions that must be shipped out to a lab. In addition to being much quicker than traditional impressions, digital impressions are much more precise and less error-prone, which means that your new crown will have a perfect fit.
- Based on the digital impressions, your new crown is then fabricated from a block of high-quality dental ceramic while you wait comfortably, catching up on your emails or a good book.
- After it is made, it will be tried out on your tooth, and when you are happy with the fit, the dentist will cement it onto your tooth with a strong bonding agent, and you are free to go!
